Bowling Green · Venue Guide

Getting married at Ironwood.

Ironwood pairs a pre-Civil War estate with a beautifully designed horse barn on a 500-acre Bowling Green farm, so you get history, open countryside, and modern comforts in one place.

Overview

What makes Ironwood special.

Ironwood's estate was built in 1852 by U.S. Senator Joseph Underwood, on a 500-acre farm surrounded by the Barren River. Celebrations take place in an architecturally designed thoroughbred horse barn, with indoor and outdoor seating and a movable arbor for the ceremony.

The venue includes bride and groom suites, indoor restrooms, a large open kitchen and prep area for your caterer, bars, a built-in sound system, and radiant heat. The Farmhouse at Ironwood, a few yards from the venue, sleeps up to 12, which is handy for the wedding party.

Packages are offered as weekday or full-weekend rentals, and Ironwood shares pricing by phone.

Planner's Tips

Planning a Ironwood wedding.

  • Use the weekend window

Weekend packages run from Friday into Sunday, which leaves time for a relaxed setup, rehearsal, and next-day pickup.

  • Book the Farmhouse early

Keeping the wedding party on site makes getting-ready photos and the morning timeline much easier.

  • Plan your caterer around the kitchen

Ironwood provides the kitchen and prep space, so choose a caterer comfortable serving from an on-site prep area.

  • Have a weather plan for the ceremony

With indoor and outdoor options and a movable arbor, decide your rain call time and backup layout in advance.
